We are delighted that you have chosen to share this memorable time in your life with us. Marriage is a commitment of loyalty and faithfulness to one another, and, thus, worthy of our highest respect. It is also the start of an incredible and risky adventure, and therefore needs all the support, prayer, and encouragement that a Christian congregation can offer.
For these reasons, a wedding in the church is first and foremost a service of worship: that is, a time of thanks and praise to the God who binds us together and provides marriage as a gift, as well as a time when we ask God to pour out all the grace, power, and strength that God can give in order to make it, truly, a gift of mutual love and partnership.
We believe that Christ is always at the center of Christian marriage, and must remain so for marriages to grow. Thus, faithful preparation in prayer, honest communication with one another, and an active life in a community of faith are vital for any couple who hopes to avail themselves fully of the gifts that God seeks to provide. The information in this booklet is our attempt to help you build on Christ’s foundation in your marriage, and start you out on your journey in the fullness and depth of God’s grace.
